Building Enhancement Project After renting our facility for many years the CSRA became the legal owners of our meeting hall in the spring of 2007. The purchase of the building was made possible through the Alberta Lottery Foundation and their matching Community Initiatives Program grant. With the purchase complete, the Board of Directors has now set out to ensure that this facility can withstand the test of time. We have roughly 1000 people that come through our doors and attend meetings every month. As you can imagine that has created a lot of wear and tear on our building. Our property has not seen the necessary interior and exterior upgrades for several years now and is in dire need of an extensive renovation both inside and out! In November of 2008 the Government of Alberta in combination with the Alberta Lottery Fund approved our Facility Enhancement Project application. They agreed with us that our building is a necessity for our community and that an extensive renovation is a worthwhile endeavor. Their support however, requires that we raise matching dollars from the community of Lethbridge and surrounding areas. In order for us to complete this project we must raise $65,000 by September of 2010. Of this we anticipate $40,000 to come through donated services, such as labour, materials and heavy duty equipment. The other $25,000 will need to be raised as cash. In order for us to accomplish this we will be seeking corporate, civil and non-profit charitable donations. The C.S.R.A. has gratefully accepted the services of an architect to assist with the development and approval process of the building plans. You may view the proposed plans below. These development plans are in the process of going through the approval process required by the City of Lethbridge. This renovation project will include bringing the building up to current building code requirements, including handicap accessible washrooms. The plans also include a system to improve the air circulation, a coffee counter, and a second meeting room developed on the main floor. Developing a second meeting room will allow additional recovery groups access to the building. The facility is currently used by Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. There are currently 18 meetings held in the CSRA Meeting Hall each week and we have had to turn away groups due to a lack of availability and a lack of wheelchair accessibility. |
