The Chinook Society for Addiction Recovery is pleased to Welcome You to our website which is new and will continue to undergo changes. We encourage you to come back often and see what has changed. We are excited to be able to present a central location where you can find information and assistance with various addictions. We currently have Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meeting in our facility throughout the week.
We are sure you will find our Meeting Locator a
useful tool. This tool lists meetings from the various 12 step groups throughout Southern Alberta.
It is our hope to expand this service to include all of Alberta. If you are aware of any meetings
missing, please Contact Us and let us know about the error or omission.
We also have a page where groups are encouraged to share any Upcoming Events. If you are organizing any events, please let us know and we will be happy to include it.
Are you curious how many days you have clean from your addiction? Our Clean Time Calculator will
figure out the number of days for you.
If you are involved with a group or organization that is searching for a meeting facility, The Chinook Society for Addiction Recovery currently have many mornings, afternoons and limited evenings available. Check out ourRental Page for more information.
In November of 2008 the Government of Alberta in
combination with the Alberta Lottery Fund approved our Facility Enhancement
Project application. They agreed with us that our building is a necessity
for our community and that an extensive renovation is a worthwhile endeavor.
Their support however, requires that we raise matching dollars from the
community of Lethbridge and surrounding areas. In order for us to
complete this project we must raise $65,000 over the next 18 months. Of
this we anticipate $40,000 to come through donated services, such as labour,
materials and heavy duty equipment. The other $25,000 will need to be
raised as cash. In order for us to accomplish this we will be seeking
corporate, civil and non-profit charitable donations.
The C.S.R.A. has gratefully accepted the services
of an architect to assist with the development and approval process of the
building plans. You may view the proposed plans below. These development plans
are in the process of going through the approval process required by the City
of Lethbridge.
This renovation project will include bringing the
building up to current building code requirements, including handicap
accessible washrooms. The plans also include a system to improve the air
circulation, a coffee counter, and a second meeting room developed on the main
floor. Developing a second meeting room will allow additional recovery groups
access to the building. The facility is currently used by Alcoholics Anonymous,
Cocaine Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. There are
currently 18 meetings held in the CSRA Meeting Hall each week and we have had
to turn away groups due to a lack of availability and a lack of wheelchair
accessibility.
If you or someone you know would like to support us in our efforts to complete this project please feel free to Contact Us directly or you can make a donation to us by following the link below to CanadaHelps.org.
If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see included in this website please give us your feedback. This site is designed to assist the addict who is in recovery and we would be happy to provide any resources possible.
